MILWAUKEE, Wis. – On a rainy night at Engelmann Stadium, the Youngstown State women's soccer team suffered its first Horizon League loss of the 2026 campaign against Milwaukee falling 2-1 to the Panthers.

The Penguins drop to 4-8-4 overall and 4-1-2 in conference play. Milwaukee improves to 10-4-2 overall and 8-0 in league play.

Jenna Tufo scored her first collegiate goal just 46 seconds into the contest. A backheel pass from Elena Zuchowski set up Kamryn Rosa's cross, which Tufo was able to get a touch on and sneak past the near post for the early lead. The goal marked the Penguins' first against the Panthers in Milwaukee since October 2017.

The Panthers responded off a corner kick taken by Ashlyn Derosier that found the head of Natalie Zodrow, who tied the match at 1-1 at 17:17.

Less than three minutes later, the Panthers struck again to take a 2-1 lead. A solo effort from Emily Petring found the bottom-left corner of the net for her ninth goal of the season.

The Penguins opened the second half with Sara Felder's first shot on goal of the contest, forcing Milwaukee goalkeeper Lauren Nidey to make an early save.

Nicole Bown and Zuchowski had back-to-back shots blocked in the same sequence, leading to a Penguins corner kick. Camille Bultel's ensuing shot off the corner was also blocked by the Panthers' backline.

In the 83rd minute, the Penguins had another opportunity when Ghita Haouzi's ball across the six-yard box was tipped away by Nidey's glove, denying Emma Berdiner, who was waiting wide open at the back post.

The Penguins were outshot 16-3 in the first half but outshot the Panthers 9-4 in the second half, recording just one fewer shot on goal than Milwaukee's six. Kendall Sears recorded four saves.

YSU stays on the road to face Green Bay on Sunday at Aldo Santaga Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET (noon CT), and the match will be streamed on ESPN+.
