Youngstown, Ohio – Four players scored in double figures and the Youngstown State men's basketball team made 14 3-points to secure a 99-61 victory over Bryant & Stratton before a sellout crowd of 4,637 on School Day Kids Game at Zidian Family Arena at Beeghly Center.
The Penguins, who improve to 9-9, were led by senior Bryson Dawkins' season-high 21 points and senior Cris Carroll's 18 points. Junior Rich Rolf poured in 15 points and junior Tae Blackshear scored a career-high 15 points with three 3-pointers.
Leading the Bobcats was Greg Thurman with 12 points and Tareeq Roper added 11 points.
Every player that appeared scored at least four points, and senior Vlad Salaridze grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds while junior Drew King dished out eight assists.
Seven different players made at least one 3-pointer, and the Penguins were led by Blackshear, Rolf and Carroll who all made three each.
The Penguins shot 52.4 percent from the floor for the game, including 53.6 percent in the first half, and 46.7 percent from the 3-point line.
Youngstown State was credited with 19 assists and 33 made field goals and it outrebounded the Bobcats, 50-32.
Youngstown State returns to Horizon League action when it visits Wright State, Thursday, Jan. 15. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio.
