Six Incoming Bowlers to Compete at Junior Gold Championships This Week

FSpiYoungstown, Ohio — Each of the six incoming freshmen in Youngstown State's bowling program is competing this week at the 2025 Junior Gold Championships in the U18 Division in and around Green Bay, Wis.

The first of four days of qualifying begins on Monday, and the first cut will be for the Advancers Round on Friday morning. Match play will begin on Friday evening, and the champion will be crowned on Saturday.

Kaitlyn Greenaway will be the first Penguin to bowl as a member of Squad 20, which will begin competition at Super Bowl Family Entertainment Center in Appleton, Wis., at 4 p.m. Central on Monday. Leyna Kratzer, Amber Mason and Amber Spicer are in Squad 27 and will start their week of bowling at Buzz Social in Green Bay, Wis. at 8:30 p.m. Central. Alivia Baskin and Gianna Varano are in Squad 28 and will bowl at 8:30 p.m. Central at Super Bowl.

The Advancers Round, Final Advancers Round and the six rounds of match play will be contested at Revs Bowl Bar & Grill in Oshkosh, Wis., and the championship on Saturday will be at Ashwaubenon Bowling Alley in Green Bay, Wis..

The Junior Gold Championships is an annual national tournament for the top male and female youth bowlers in the United States. The tournament has six divisions – U12 Boys, U12 Girls, U15 Boys, U15 Girls, U18 Boys, U18 Girls.
