YSU Men’s Golf Adds Bryar Moss from Transfer Portal

The Youngstown State men's golf program has added sophomore Bryar Moss from the transfer portal, head coach Tony Joy announced on Wednesday.

Moss, a native of Parker, Colo., joins the Penguins after an impressive freshman campaign at Tennessee State in 2024-25. He participated in nine tournaments and 24 rounds for the Tigers last season, averaging 76.6 strokes per round with a low round of 69.

"We were looking for a talented player to come in and make an immediate impact, and I feel Bryar can fill that spot for us," Joy said. "I was fortunate enough to get in contact with him after he entered the transfer portal, and things just fell into place. We are extremely excited to add Bryar to our talented group of returning players for 2025-26."

Moss earned one top 10 finish and five top 25 performances in his first season at the Division I level in 2024-25. He placed fourth at the ASU Spring Classic with a two-round 148 (75-73), and he finished tied for 12th at the 39th Annual Thomas W. Dortch Jr. HBCU Golf Classic with a two-round score of 150 (76-74).

Moss finished tied for 13th at the 2025 PGA Works Collegiate Championship with a three-round score of 232 (69-84-79), and he tied for 14th at the 2025 OVC Men's Golf Championship with a three-round score of 217 (76-70-71). Moss finished tied for 16th at the Bridgestone HBCU Invitational a three-round 224 (71-75-78). He also finished tied for 44th in his collegiate debut at the Colonel Shootout with a three-round score of 222 (74-72-76).

Moss was a four-year varsity golfer and two-time team captain at Ponderosa High School. He earned all-state honorable mention honors and was named team MVP as a senior in 2023, finishing tied for first place at regionals with a two-under-par round of 70. Moss earned second-team all-state honors as a junior in 2022, finishing 11th at the state tournament and eighth at regionals. He qualified for the state tournament while collecting all-state honorable mention honors as a sophomore in 2021.

Moss was also a four-year varsity soccer player, serving as team captain and earning first-team all-league honors as a senior. He garnered Academic All-State recognition each of his final two years at Ponderosa High School.
