Youngstown, Ohio — Setter Ava Prince has signed to join Youngstown State's volleyball program in the fall as a transfer student-athlete, YSU head coach Riley Jarrett announced on Friday.
Prince is a 5-foot-9 setter from Casstown, Ohio, who redshirted as a true freshman in 2024 at Saint Francis University, and she has four years of eligibility remaining.
"We are very excited to have Ava complete our roster for the fall," Jarrett said. "We are looking forward to adding her committed, mature, and competitive personality to our roster. She will be a great addition for our program on and off the court and bring versatility to our offense."
Prince was the Three Rivers Conference Player of the Year for Miami East her senior year while leading the Vikings to a pair of league titles and a district championship. She was a four-time first-team all-district selection and a three-time all-conference pick while also earning team MVP honors three times.
Prince finished her career with 2,419 assists, 330 aces, 621 digs, 307 kills and 64 blocks. She set Miami East's records for most assists in a season with 713, and her career total is also the most by a Vikings player.
Academically, Prince was a member of the National Honor Society and was named to the 4.0 GPA Principal's List. She graduated in the top five of her class.
Prince is the 10th newcomer who will be a Penguin in 2025. She joins fellow Division I transfers Niyah Lester and Taya Nordmann and incoming freshmen Kameron Blizniak, Kennedy Dawson, Layne Graffice, Brie Habeeb, Isabel Henry, Presley Stokes and Ava Stratton.
