Youngstown, Ohio — Youngstown State bowler Amanda Granata will compete at the U22 Queens event this week at Thunderbowl Lanes in Allen Park, Mich.

Granata, a rising junior from Florham Park, N.J., is one of 81 bowlers scheduled to compete over the next four days. Qualifying will consist of two rounds of seven games, and the top 32 bowlers will advance to double-elimination match play that will begin on Sunday.

Granata will be in the B Squad in qualifying, and her competition will start at 5 p.m. on Friday. She will then bowl in the morning shift on Saturday at 10 a.m., and match play begins at noon on Sunday. After eight rounds of match play, the three remaining players will advance to the finals at Thunderbowl Arena at 2 p.m. on Monday.

For Granata, this will be her second major individual event of the offseason. In April, she bowled at the Intercollegiate Singles Championship in Las Vegas and finished in a tie for third as the first Penguin bowler to advance past the sectional round of the tournament. The sectional round of the ISC was also held at Thunderbowl Lanes, and Granata placed sixth by posting a 1,267 set over six games.
