Youngstown, Ohio — For the second straight month and for the third time in her career, Youngstown State senior Jade Cote is being recognized as the Conference USA Co-Bowler of the Month. The conference office announced its awards for February on Wednesday.

Cote was even better in February than when she was in January as she averaged 22.34 pins over 270 frames to help guide the Penguins to two top-five finishes. Bowling in 97.1% of her possible frames, Cote averaged 22.13 pins in Baker play and 22.71 in traditional play.

Her month was highlighted by being the individual champion and Most Valuable Player at the Mid-Winter Invitational, which featured 13 of the top 17 teams in the NTCA poll and eight conference teams. In addition to topping the field in the traditional format with a 1,201 set, Cote averaged 23.08 in Baker play. She set the school record for highest overall frame average at a tournament at 23.41, and she had top-three entries in the record for highest game (289), highest Baker average (23.08) and highest traditional average (240.2). The Penguins beat Arkansas State, Nebraska and Vanderbilt in best-of-seven bracket batches to climb to third in the final standings.

Cote began the month py placing 13th individually and helping the Penguins to a fifth-place finish at the Flyer Classic. She fired a five-game set of 1,070 in traditional play, which was 26 pins out of sixth.

Cote and the Penguins will bowl at Vanderbilt's Music City Classic next weekend at the Smyrna Bowling Center near Nashville.
