Rock Hill, S.C. – The Youngstown State softball team used a big inning to pick up its second win of the season with a 7-4 victory over Southern Indiana on Sunday morning.
The Penguins scored seven times in the top of the fourth inning to erase a 2-0 deficit and held on for the three-run victory.
Sophomore Autumn Behlke posted her second win of the year while sophomore Maci Boggess fired two scoreless innings of relief to record her first career save. Boggess did not allow a hit and fanned two.
The Eagles scored in the second and third to take a 2-0 lead after three innings.
Ashlyn Bishop scored on a wild pitch to put the Penguins on the board, and sophomore Lydia Wilkerson's two-run single gave the Penguins a 3-2 lead.
Following a walk to Ayla Ray and strikeout, junior Kennedy Dean delivered a two-out bases-clearing double to right-center field to push the lead to 6-2.
Elyssa Imler singled and stole second and Dean scored on an error.
Southern Indiana added runs in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings.
Youngstown State faces Mount St. Mary's and Winthrop, Tuesday, March 4, at 12 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., respectively.
