Rock Hill, S.C. – Sophomore Lydia Wilkerson recorded four hits and tied the single-game doubles record to lead the Youngstown State softball team to an 8-3 win over St. Bonaventure on Friday morning.
Wilkerson went 4-for-5 with three doubles, home run, two runs batted in, and three runs scored to lead the Penguins.
Sophomore Autumn Behlke fired a complete-game four hitter and struck out seven to pick up her first win of the year.
Macy Littler went 2-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored while Elyssa Imler and Kennedy Dean also tallied two hits each.
Freshman Ayla Ray ripped a run-scoring single in the top of the first inning to give the Penguins a 1-0, and Youngstown State plated five runs in the top of the second to extend the lead to 6-0.
After Imler and Dean singled, junior Ashlyn Bishop singled home both runners for a 3-0 advantage. Bishop stole second and scored on Littler's triple, and Wilkerson's second home run of the year, a two-run blast, capped the Penguins' second-inning barrage.
The Penguins took an 8-0 lead in the fourth after back-to-back bases-loaded walks to Bree Kohler and Taylor Truran.
The Bonnies scored a run in the bottom half of the fourth and two more in the bottom of the sixth.
The Penguins also dropped an 11-2 decision to Charlotte.
Youngstown State faces Marist and USC-Upstate on Saturday at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.
