Highland Heights, Ky. – The Youngstown State volleyball team's best season in more than a decade came to an end on Saturday with a 3-0 loss to Wright State in the semifinals of the 2025 Horizon League Volleyball Championship.

The Penguins conclude the campaign with a 17-14 record, while the Raiders advance to Sunday's championship match against Northern Kentucky.

Senior outside hitter Abbie Householder finished her brilliant career for her hometown team with 14 kills, bringing her career total to a school record 1,427. Her 502 kills this season were the third most in program history and the second most in the 25-point rally scoring era.

Freshman setter Kameron Blizniak registered 22 assists on Saturday to bring her season total to 1,116, which is a new school record in the current scoring format. Outside hitter Layne Graffice finished her first season with 11 digs.

Householder accounted for 14 of YSU's 30 kills against the Raiders, who slowed the Penguins to a .137 attack percentage while hitting .430 on the offensive end. Mya Ayro had a match-high 15 kills in 24 attempts and added five blocks assists. Wright State libero Ella Gaona led all players with 18 digs, and the Raiders had 53 as a team.

Youngstown State's 17 wins represented its most victories since 2014. That was also the last time the Penguins advanced to the tournament's semifinals. YSU won a school-record 11 Horizon League matches and tied the program record for home wins with 10.
