Youngstown, Ohio — Youngstown State's volleyball program begins the competition stage of its spring schedule this Friday as it hosts Fairmont State inside Zidian Family Arena at Beeghly Center.
The Penguins will welcome the Falcons this Friday at 6 p.m., and they'll be home again next Friday, April 17, against Akron. The match against the Zips will start at 5 p.m., and it will be the program's inaugural Penguin Volleyball Social. During the match against Akron, YSU will host a fundraiser event that includes basket raffles, a 50/50 and t-shirt sales. There will also be a meet and greet and an autograph session following the match.
Admission is free to both matches.
Youngstown State has eight returners and three Division I transfers on its spring roster this season. The returners include setters Kam Blizniak and Ava Prince, outside hitters Layne Graffice and Teagan Ng, defensive specialists Brie Habeeb and Juliana Rivera, middle blocker Izzy Henry and right-side hitter Ava Stratton. The three transfers are defensive specialist Ashlee Gnau (Syracuse), outside hitter Kylie Surrat (UT-Martin) and middle blocker Wrigley Takats (Eastern Michigan).
