Youngstown, Ohio – The Youngstown State women's soccer team's season came to an end after a 1-0 loss to Oakland in the quarterfinal of the 2025 Horizon League Women's Soccer Championship on Sunday at Farmers National Bank Field.
Oakland's Mallory Anderson put back off of a free kick that ricocheted off of the cross in the 99th minute gave the No. 6 Golden Grizzlies the golden goal.
The Golden Grizzlies, who improve to 4-7-8 overall will face top-seeded Milwaukee, Thursday, Nov. 6, at 2 p.m. Eastern.
Youngstown State's season ends with an overall mark of 8-10-2.
The Penguins controlled the time of possession and outshot the Golden Grizzlies, 19-15, led by Kate Makkas with four and Kamryn Rosa and Taylor Berry with three each.
Goalkeeper Maya Naimoli posted five saves.
