Rochester, Mich. – Lianna Van Sice scored her second goal of the season, but the Youngstown State women's soccer team fell to Oakland, 3-1, Sunday at the Oakland Soccer Field.
Youngstown State falls to 2-6-2 overall and 0-2 in the Horizon League while Oakland improves to 2-7-2 overall and 1-1 in league play.
Van Sice gave the Penguins a 1-0 lead at the 15:58 mark of the game after converting a shot into an open net.
A long pass down the right side of the field connected Taylor Berry, who forced the goalkeeper to commit out on the ball. Berry's cross to the left side of the six hit Van Sice in stride, and her left-footer hit the back of the net.
Oakland tied the game five minutes later and took a 2-1 lead in the 50th minute of the contest.
The Golden Grizzlies sealed the game with a goal at the 86:51 mark of the game.
Maya Naimoli faced a total of 22 shots, including 10 shots on goal, and was credited with seven saves.
Youngstown State hosts IU-Indy Thursday, Sept. 26. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Farmers National Bank Field.
