Detroit, Mich. – Redshirt freshman Sara Felder scored a goal for the second straight game, but the Youngstown State women's soccer team fell to Detroit Mercy, 3-1, on Thursday night at Titan Field.
The Penguins fall to 2-5-2 overall and 0-1in the Horizon League while the Titans improve to 3-6 overall and 1-0 in league play.
After the Titans scored a pair of goals in the first 28 minutes of the game, Felder scored her second career goal to trim the lead to 2-1 at the 35:55 mark.
Sophomore Evan Sunjevaric gathered the ball deep in Penguins territory and sent to long pass to forward Taylor Berry on the right side of the Titans defense.
Berry's pass just outside the 18 found Felder and her one-timer found the bottom right of the net. Sunjevaric and Berry were both credited with assists on the goal.
Maya Naimoli posted a career-high 10 saves in the loss.
Youngstown State visits Oakland, Sunday, Sept. 22. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. in Rochester, Mich.
