Penguins Conclude Competition at Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational

The Youngstown State men's golf team finished 11th at the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational, which concluded on Tuesday from Guyan Golf & Country Club in Huntington, W. Va.

As a team, the Penguins finished with a three-round total of 880 in the two-day, 54-hole event. YSU posted a team score of 293 in each of the first two rounds on Monday before concluding the event with a 294 in the third and final round on Tuesday.

Playing in his second collegiate tournament, true freshman Jordan Kish finished tied for 29th to pace the Penguins on the individual leaderboard. The Massillon, Ohio, native recorded a three-round score of 215 (73-71-71). Kish's even-par 71 in the second round on Monday featured 11 pars, two birdies and an eagle on the par-five No. 11. The freshman's final-round 71 included eight pars and six birdies as he fired a two-under-par 33 on the back nine.

Ryan Sam finished tied for 49th with a three-round total of 220 (75-75-70). The junior's one-under-par 70 in the final round featured 11 pars and four birdies. Nolan Shilling finished tied for 54th in his collegiate debut with a three-round 221 (73-72-76). The redshirt freshman's one-over-par 72 in the second session included 14 pars and a pair of birdies.

Playing as an individual, Jake Ryan concluded the tournament with a three-round score of 226 (74-75-77). Michael Porter also finished the event with a three-round total of 226 (72-75-79). Redshirt sophomore Ayden Richmond carded a three-round 230 (77-76-77) in his collegiate debut.

Marshall won its home tournament title by 15 strokes with a three-round team total of 824. Longwood finished as the runner-up with an 839 while Morehead State placed third with an 840. Cleveland State finished fourth with an 844 while Ohio rounded out the top five with an 850.

Marshall's Cameron Jarvis claimed medalist honors with a three-round score of 205 (71-64-70) while Murray State's Kamaren Cunningham was the runner-up with a 206 (68-67-71).

Youngstown State will resume its fall schedule on Sept. 28-29 with the Virtues Intercollegiate hosted by Bowling Green at The Virtues Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio.
