Buffalo, N.Y. – Tatum Gretz scored the first goal of her career midway through the second half, and the Youngstown State women's soccer team battled Canisius to a 1-1 tie on Thursday afternoon at Demske Sports Complex.
The Penguins move to 1-1-2 on the year while the Golden Griffins are now 1-0-1.

Gretz knotted the game at the 62:38 mark with a left-footed blast from 20 yards and into the top left.
Junior Taylor Berry gained control of the ball near midfield and barreled down middle of the field for nearly 20 yards. As Canisius defenders closed in, Berry slipped a pass to her left and Gretz booted a one-timer from just outside the 18.
Goalkeeper Maya Naimoli posted another solid outing in the net recording six saves and facing a total of 22 shots.
The Penguins return home to host George Washington, Sunday, Sept. 1. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Farmers National Bank Field.
