Penguins Take Advantage of Moving Day at HL Championships

Howey-In-The-Hills, Fla. - The Youngstown State women's golf team had a strong moving day on the second round of action at the 2024 Horizon League Golf Championships at the Mission Inn Resort's El Campeon course.

YSU carded a second round 312 to cut seven strokes off Oakland's day one advantage and pull within six shots of the Golden Grizzlies entering tomorrow's third and final round.

Oakland leads with a two-round total of 624 while the Penguins are within striking distance with a 630. Sitting in third place is IUPUI at 639 while Green Bay moved into fourth at 646.

On the individual leaderboard, all five Youngstown State golfers are in the top 16.

Freshman Neeranuch Prajunpanich moved up into second place (152), Lizzie Saur now resides in sixth place (156), Titita Loudtragulngam is tied for 12th (161) while Danae Rugola and Adena Rugola are tied for 16th (163). Both Rugola's made major moves in the standings on Sunday as Danae Rugola shot up 12 spots and Adena Rugola bettered her position by nine places.

Prajunpanich fired her second straight round of 76 on Sunday and is two shots back of Oakland's Bridget Boczar. Prajunpanich round featured birdies at Nos. 7, 8 and 14. YSU started on hole No. 10 and she was two-over on the back nine and just one over on the front. Her round featured nine pars.

Saur had a 77 on Sunday, after opening the tournament with a 79. She moved up three spots on the leaderboard. She had 12 pars and birdie at No. 1 highlighted her second round.

Loudtragulngam carded an 81 on Sunday after firing an 80 on Saturday. She had 11 pars on the day and opened with eight pars in her first 10 holes.

Danae Rugola was in 28th place after an opening round 84, but came back to shoot a 79 on Sunday and is now 16th. She had 10 pars and a birdie at No. 16. She was one over through her first 10 holes.

Adena Rugola had an 80 on Sunday for a three-shot improvement between rounds. She started out with birdies at No. 11 and No. 13 and was two-under after four holes. She had seven pars during her round.

The Guins and Golden Grizzlies will be paired together for tomorrow morning's final round. The first group tees off at 8:20 a.m. with the final pairing beginning their rounds at 9 a.m.
