Howey-In-The-Hills, Fla. – Freshman Neeranuch Prajunpanich is tied for third place individually while the Youngstown State women's golf team is in second following Saturday's opening round of the 2024 Horizon League Golf Championships at Mission Inn Resort's El Campeon course.
The Penguins are in second place as a team after an opening-round 318. Oakland seized a 13-shot advantage heading into Sunday's second round after posting a 305 on Saturday. IUPUI and Purdue Fort Wayne each carded a first-round 322 to sit tied for third.
Prajunpanich fired a three-over-par 76 in her Horizon League Championships debut to finish Saturday's opening round three shots off the lead. The freshman's first round featured 12 pars and a pair of birdies as she carded a one-over-par 38 on the back nine. Oakland's Bridget Boczar shot an even-par 73 on Saturday to grab a two-stroke lead heading into the second session.
Lizzie Saur is tied for ninth on the individual leaderboard following an opening round of 79. The junior's first round included 11 pars and a birdie on the par-four No. 11. Titita Loudtragulngam is tied for 12th after recording a first-round score of 80 that featured 11 pars.
Adena Rugola is tied for 25th following a first-round 83 that included 11 pars. Danae Rugola is tied for 28th after posting a first-round 84 that featured nine pars and a birdie on the par-three No. 2.
The Penguins will begin their second round of action on Sunday with tee times off No. 10 beginning at 7:30 a.m. Live scoring will be available at Golfstat.com.
