Kirsten Moore Wins Elite 90 Award for Bowling

Youngstown, Ohio -- Youngstown State University senior Kirsten Moore is the recipient of the Elite 90 award for the 2024 National Collegiate Bowling Championship. She was presented with the award during the NCAA's student-athlete awards banquet on Thursday evening at the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation.

Moore is the third student-athlete in Youngstown State history regardless of sport to win the Elite 90 award. She joins former teammate Sarah Florence, who received the award in 2021, and Hunter Wells, who was the recipient at the 2017 football championship.

Moore, a native of Tallmadge, Ohio, is a graduate student working toward her master's in English. She earned her bachelor's degree from Youngstown State last spring and graduated summa cum laude with a 4.0 GPA. Moore was an Academic All-District pick by College Sports Communicators in 2022-23, and she is a three-time member of the NTCA and Southland All-Academic teams. Earlier this season she was voted to the Conference USA All-Academic Team.

Moore was also announced as a Second-Team All-American on Thursday night for her athletic performance in 2023-24. She was the individual champion at three tournaments during the regular season, and she is on pace to break the school record for traditional average at 214.33 per game. Overall, Moore possesses a 20.61 scoring average, and she was an all-tournament team selection at four events this season.

The Elite 90, an award founded by the NCAA, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The Elite 90 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships.

Eligible student-athletes are sophomores or above academically who have participated in a sport for at least two years with their school. All ties are broken by the number of credits completed.
