Norfolk, Va. – The Youngstown State softball team split a pair of games on Friday at the Norfolk State University tournament. The Penguins defeated the Spartans, 5-3, in eight innings and fell to UNLV, 9-0, in six innings.
The Penguins move to 10-7 overall on the year after the split.
In the opener, Conchetta Rinaldi went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a run batted in while Lydia Wilkerson, Jillian Jakse, Ashlyn Bishop and Hailey Niederkohr each drove in runs.
Autumn Behlke turned in a quality start with six strikeouts in six innings pitched, and Sophie Howell picked up her sixth win.
The Penguins face UNLV, Sunday, March 10. First pitch is set for 11:30 a.m.
