St. Bonaventure, N.Y. - The Youngstown State lacrosse team fell to St. Bonaventure on Wednesday, 19-7.
The Penguins move to 0-11 on the season while the Bonnies improve to 6-4.
YSU and St. Bonaventure were tied, 5-5, at halftime, but the Bonnies scored 14 goals in the second half to come away with the victory.
Ava Kreutzer matched a career high with four goals while Katie Grottenthaler, Grace Rund, and Emma Hoffman also found the back of the net. Lena Cox and Hoffman each delivered assists.
Jade Shearer collected a career-high five draw controls. Molly Sheridan caused two turnovers and grabbed three ground balls.
At goal, Paige Borkowski made seven saves and recorded a .269 save percentage.
Leading the Bonnies was Tori Nascimento with five points on four goals and an assist.
Kreutzer scored two goals within the first six minutes of the game to make the score 2-1 at the 9:29 mark of the first quarter.
Rund scored off a free-position shot to give the Penguins a two-goal lead, 3-1, midway through the first.
The Bonnies went onto close the quarter with three goals to take a 4-3 lead headed into the second.
Both offenses slowed in the second quarter with three goals combined for the teams, but YSU's Grottenthaler and Kreutzer found the back of the net to tie things up at 5-5 headed into halftime. Kreutzer's goal completed a first-half hat trick.
The Bonnies outscored the Penguins 14-2 in the second half. Scoring in the fourth quarter for Youngstown State was Kreutzer with her fourth and Hoffman, who found the back of the net for the first time of the day with just 46 seconds to play.
YSU was 15-of-16 on clears but lost the draw control margin 18-10. St. Bonaventure outshot the Penguins 39-18.
The Penguins will return home and to Mid-American Conference play on Sunday as they host Central Michigan at Farmers National Bank Field. First draw is set for noon.
