CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Youngstown State women's lacrosse team fell 25-4 to Cincinnati on Thursday at Nippert Stadium.
The Penguins fall to 0-4 on the season while the Bearcats improve to 4-2.
Four different Penguins scored the four YSU goals of the game: Callie Vaudry, Lena Cox, Ally Garrett, and Grace Rund.
Madison Maciag and Jade Shearer delivered assists with Maciag scoring her first collegiate point.
Mia Kuzdzal led the Penguins defensively, grabbing three ground balls and causing a turnover. Brooke Peck led YSU in draw controls with two. In goal, Paige Borkowski made eight saves.
Vaudry scored her first goal since 2021 after battling injuries the past two seasons. She grabbed a ground ball and scored a fast-break goal at the 13:52 mark of the second quarter to make the score 9-1 following Cincinnati's early lead.
The Penguins would score two goals in the third with Cox scoring unassisted at the 8:05 mark for her sixth goal of the season. Garrett would find the back of the net on a feed from Maciag with less than a minute remaining in the third quarter to make the score 19-3 headed into the final period of play.
Rund shot a Shearer pass into the net with 9:06 left to play as Cincinnati would score the final four goals to defeat the Penguins 25-4.
Cincinnati outshot the Penguins 42-14 and won the draw control margin 23-8.
The Penguins will conclude their three-game road stretch at Stetson in DeLand, Fla. on Monday. First draw at the Athletic Training Center is set for noon.
