YSU Baseball Announces 2025 Schedule

The Youngstown State baseball team is slated to play 54 regular season games across eight different states from mid-February to late May as part of its 2025 schedule, YSU head coach Trevor Charpie announced on Wednesday.
"We are very excited about our 2025 schedule," said Charpie. "We have the opportunity to play a number of very good teams from across the country during the non-conference portion of the schedule. We are excited to be in Texas early in the season, and we have some team bonding activities planned for our time there. We are also excited about the addition of a few new midweek opponents and the chance to play Akron at Canal Park. We look forward to proving ourselves not only in the state but across the country."
The Penguins will open the campaign at Baylor on Friday, Feb. 14, as part of a three-game series. YSU's home and Horizon League opener against Milwaukee at Eastwood Field is set for Friday, March 14.
The Penguins are scheduled to play 30 Horizon League contests, 24 non-conference games and 19 games at Eastwood Field in 2025. Youngstown State will also face opponents from the ACC, Big 12 and MAC during the non-conference portion of the schedule.
YSU will begin the 2025 campaign with a three-game series at Baylor on Feb. 14-16. The Penguins and Bears split a four-game series in Waco, Texas, during the 2023 season in the first-ever meetings between the programs. Youngstown State will return to the Lonestar State for a four-game series at Abilene Christian on Feb. 21-23. The Penguins won two out of three games against the Wildcats in Abilene during the shortened 2020 campaign.
YSU will travel to Texas for a third straight weekend to play a four-game series at UTSA on Feb. 28-March 2. The series opener on Feb. 28 will mark the first meeting on the diamond between the Penguins and Roadrunners. Youngstown State will also make the trip to Boiling Springs, N.C., to play a three-game series at Gardner-Webb on March 7-9. The series opener on March 7 will mark the first meeting between the Penguins and Runnin' Bulldogs.
YSU will play its first midweek game of the season and conclude its early-season road stretch with a non-conference contest at Pitt on Wednesday, March 12. After playing its first 15 games on the road, YSU will host Milwaukee in its home and Horizon League opener at Eastwood Field on Friday, March 14, to begin a three-game weekend series.
The home and league opener will also begin a season-long seven game homestand at Eastwood Field. The Penguins will host Mercyhurst in a midweek non-conference contest on March 18 before welcoming Purdue Fort Wayne for a three-game Horizon League series on March 21-23. YSU will close out the month of March with four straight road games beginning with a midweek contest at Bowling Green on March 25. The Guins will then head to Wright State for a three-game Horizon League series on March 28-30.
Youngstown State will open April with a non-conference home game against Toledo on April 1 before a three-game league series at Oakland on April 4-6. The Penguins will then begin a five-game homestand with back-to-back midweek affairs against Pitt (April 8) and Bowling Green (April 9). The homestand will wrap up with a three-game Horizon League against Northern Kentucky on April 11-13.
The Penguins will begin an eight-game road stretch on April 15 at Mercyhurst before a three-game Horizon League series at Milwaukee on April 17-19. YSU will play at Eastern Michigan on April 22 before closing out the month with a three-game league series at Purdue Fort Wayne on April 25-27.
Youngstown State will open the month of May by hosting Wright State for a three-game Horizon League series on May 2-4. After a midweek trip to Toledo on May 6, the Guins will conclude their home schedule with a three-game Horizon League series against Oakland on May 9-11. YSU will play four consecutive games away from home to close out the regular season beginning with a non-conference contest against Akron at Canal Park on May 13. The Penguins are scheduled to finish regular-season play with a three-game league series at Northern Kentucky on May 15-17.
The 2025 Horizon League Baseball Championship is scheduled for May 21-24 at the site of the No. 1 seed.
All dates and opponents are subject to change, and a complete list of game times will be provided soon. The Horizon League will announce more details on the conference championship in the coming months.
