Youngstown, Ohio — Youngstown State junior outside hitter Abbie Householder has been named an Under Armour Horizon League Player of the Week for her performance in the Penguins' three matches from Oct. 28-Nov. 3, the conference office announced.

In a season where she has emerged as one of the premier players in the league, Householder collected the first weekly award of her career. She is YSU's first winner since the 2022 season.

The Canfield, Ohio, native led the conference last week with 5.32 points per set as Youngstown State picked up two Horizon League wins against Oakland. Householder also tied for the league lead with 4.45 kills per set, and she ranked among the top eight in aces and digs per set.

Householder had double-doubles in all three matches last week, starting with a 14-kill, 22-dig effort in a three-setter against Robert Morris on Tuesday. She then had 21 kills and 13 digs as YSU rallied from a 2-0 hole to beat Oakland 3-2 on Friday, and she posted 14 kills and 10 digs in a sweep of the Golden Grizzlies on Saturday. Householder hit .343 on 35 attempts in Saturday's win to help YSU set a new program standard for highest attack percentage in a Horizon League match.

For the year, Householder ranks second in the conference in both kills (4.04) and points (4.65) per set, and she is seventh in aces (0.37) and 14th in digs (3.20).

Youngstown State will play two road matches this weekend at Cleveland State. The Penguins and Vikings will play on Friday at 6 p.m. and on Saturday at 2 p.m.
