Youngstown, Ohio — Youngstown State junior Abbie Householder has been named to the 2024 Horizon League Volleyball All-Academic Team for her combined accomplishments on the court and in the classroom. The conference office announced its 12-member team on Tuesday.
Householder had a breakout season athletically, and she is on the all-academic team for the first time in her career. The Canfield, Ohio, native is the fifth different Penguin in the last four years to earn the award.
Householder ranked second in the Horizon League in both kills and points per set while ranking among the top 15 in digs and aces per set. She finished the 2024 campaign averaging 4.00 kills and 3.21 digs per set to become just the second Penguin in the last 25 years to average at least three of each.
Academically, Householder holds an impressive 3.85 grade-point average as a business administration major. She was an Academic All-District selection by the College Sports Communicators in 2023.
The Valeo Horizon League All-Academic teams were selected by a vote of the conference's faculty athletic representatives. To be eligible, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic year at their current institution, participate in at least 50% of the team's overall contests, and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 on a 4.00 scale.
