The Youngstown State men's tennis team improved to 3-0 to start the season following a 5-2 win over Georgetown on Sunday at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center.
The Guins earned the doubles point and picked up four singles wins against the Hoyas (1-2)
In doubles play, Nathan Favier and William Rassat picked up a 6-2 win and then the point was clinched at No. 2 as David Alvarez Moreno and Harry Fouzas fought back for a 6-4 win.
The Guins won two singles matches in straight sets and two in three sets.
Winning in straight sets were Rassat and Onder Balci. At No. 5, Rassat picked up a 6-3, 6-4 win while at No. 3, Balci won his match 6-2, 6-4. In a quick moving three-set match, Nishant Dabas rallied for a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 2. Also winning in three sets was Fouzas at No. 4. After dropping a 6-4 first set, he won the second 7-6 (4) and in the super tiebreak won every point for a 10-0 victory.
GU won in straight set at No. 1 and three sets at No. 6.
YSU returns to action on Friday when they begin a two-match swing in Nebraska against Creighton in Omaha.
