Youngstown, Ohio -- The Youngstown State women's soccer team lost for the first time this season after dropping a 1-0 decision to Canisius on Sunday afternoon at Farmers National Bank Field.
The Penguins fall to 3-1 while the Golden Griffins improve to 1-1-2 on the season.
Canisius' Jessica Whitaker scored the game-winner in the 82nd minute after a scrum in the penalty box. CU's Skyler Cornell's corner kick found Lizzy Harkness in the box and Whitaker finished with a shot in the lower left.
Canisius outshot the Penguins 14-7 including 9-4 in the second half.
Maddie Keister led the Penguins with three total shots and had two shots on goal to lead Youngstown State.
Senior goalkeeper Brooklynn Kirkpatrick posted five saves.
Youngstown State visits George Washington, Thursday, Aug. 31, at 3 p.m.
