Aulbach Announced as SAAC President for Horizon League, YSU

Youngstown State fifth-year women's basketball player Mady Aulbach has been named the president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for both the Horizon League and YSU for the 2023-24 academic year.

Each of the League's member institutions is represented by two student-athletes, and Aulbach and men's golfer Ryan Sam will serve as Youngstown State's representatives.

Horizon League SAAC participated in an in-person meeting in early June and will continue to meet over several videoconferences throughout the academic year. Additionally, SAAC members will serve as Cabinet members in the Horizon League governance structure while two student-athletes will also represent the student-athlete voice and hold one vote on the League Council, alongside all 11 Athletics Directors, one Faculty Athletics Representative and one Senior Woman Administrator. Aulbach and Green Bay's Betsy Walkowiak will serve as those two voices on the League Council.

Aulbach will also serve as president of Youngstown State's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. The organization meets in person monthly, and its mission is to promote efficient communication between the Athletic Administration and the student-athlete population regarding areas that impact the student's athletic, academic, and personal well-being. It is also charged with actively encouraging more involvement of student-athletes in campus and community projects, to encourage unity, common purpose and camaraderie between teams and among all athletes in the athletic program, and to establish a relationship with YSU's Student Government Association.

Men's track and field student-athlete Keegan Barnette will serve as the Vice President of YSU's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Additional officers include football student-athlete Michael Voitus (social justice coordinator), women's track and field student-athlete Molly Radcliffe (co-facilities coordinator), bowling student-athlete Madyson Marx (co-facilities coordinator) and soccer student-athlete Brooklyn Kirkpatrick (community outreach).
