Game Preview
- The Youngstown State baseball team (14-32, 9-14 Horizon League) will look to push its winning streak to eight on Tuesday when it hosts Bowling Green (16-27, 9-15 MAC) in a non-conference contest at Eastwood Field at 5 p.m.

- Redshirt junior left-hander Kenny Misik will take the mound to make his team-leading 25th appearance and third start of the season. The Austintown, Ohio, native made his first-career start on April 18 at Penn State after coming out of the bullpen in his first 49 career appearances.
- The Penguins and Falcons will be meeting for the second time this season. Bowling Green earned an 18-6 victory over YSU at Steller Field on March 22.
- YSU has won seven straight games after sweeping a three-game Horizon League series at Purdue Fort Wayne this past weekend. The Penguins have put together their first seven-game winning streak since winning eight straight contests during the 2005 season. YSU won the series opener at Purdue Fort Wayne 9-4 on Friday before clinching the series with a 12-3 victory on Saturday. The Guins completed their second consecutive Horizon League series sweep with a 14-10 win in the series finale on Sunday.
- YSU earned a 9-4 victory at Pitt on April 10 that marked YSU's third win over a Power Five opponent this season. It was also YSU's third straight win at Charles L. Cost Field and its fifth victory over the Panthers in the last eight meetings.
- The Penguins won their 2023 home and Horizon League opener with an 18-3 victory over Oakland at Eastwood Field on March 16. YSU set new season highs with 18 runs and 21 hits while winning its league opener for the third straight season. The Guins recorded at least 18 runs and 21 hits for the first time since March 21, 2021.
- The Penguins split a four-game series at Baylor on March 3-5. YSU's 7-5 victory on March 3 marked its first win over a Big 12 opponent since 2013. The Penguins now have five wins over Power Five opponents in the last two seasons and nine during Dan Bertolini's tenure as head coach.
- Redshirt junior shortstop Trey Law was named Horizon League Co-Batter of the Week on Feb. 28 after batting .556 and slugging .611 with 10 hits in 18 at bats over four games played at Memphis on Feb. 24-26. In addition, senior right-hander Travis Perry was named Horizon League Pitcher of the Week after leading YSU to a 6-2 victory in the series opener at Memphis on Feb. 24. Perry allowed one run on two hits with a career-high 10 strikeouts over six innings.
- Youngstown State ranks second in the Horizon League with 437 hits and 105 doubles while ranking third with a .273 batting average, 294 runs scored, 266 RBIs, 675 total bases and a .422 slugging percentage.
- Senior right-hander Travis Perry ranks second in the Horizon League with a .245 opponent batting average, third with five wins, fifth with a 4.22 ERA, sixth with 53 strikeouts and eighth with 59.2 innings pitched. Junior right-hander Nick Perez ranks ninth in the league with 48 strikeouts and 10th with 56.1 innings pitched.
- Senior infielder Steven D'Eusanio leads the Horizon League and ranks 10th nationally with 20 doubles while also ranking eighth in the league with 54 hits and 39 RBIs. D'Eusanio's 20 doubles are tied for the fourth most in a season in program history. He is the first Penguin to record at least 20 doubles in a season since Tom Clayton had 20 in 2007. D'Eusanio has hit safely in 25 of his last 32 games after putting together a 12-game hitting streak from March 11 to April 2. He is batting .309 and slugging .457 with 29 hits and 28 RBIs over 23 games in Horizon League play.
- Junior shortstop Trey Law leads the Horizon League with a career-high 67 hits while ranking third with a .360 batting average, fifth with 14 doubles, seventh with a .428 on-base percentage and eighth with 38 runs scored. Law has now hit safely in 36 of his last 40 games. He hit safely in a career-best nine straight games from Feb. 19 to March 5 before putting together an eight-game hitting streak from March 10-24. Law has hit safely in nine straight contests entering Tuesday's game. Law is batting .333 with 32 hits over 21 games in Horizon League play.
- Senior first baseman Padraig O'Shaughnessy ranks second in the Horizon League with 34 walks, fifth with 44 RBIs and ninth with eight home runs. He also leads the circuit with five sacrifice flies. Senior third baseman Braeden O'Shaughnessy ranks sixth in the league with 56 hits and 10th with 32 RBIs and 37 runs scored. He is batting .367 and slugging .612 with 36 hits and 25 RBIs over 23 games in Horizon League play.
- Senior outfielder Turner Grau leads the Horizon League with four triples while ranking fourth with a team-high 13 stolen bases and 10th with 24 walks. He had a 12-game hitting streak snapped at Purdue Fort Wayne on Saturday. Grau has set a new YSU career record for triples with 12. With four triples this season, he has surpassed the previous mark of nine that had been held by Chris Durkin (1989-91) and Mark Thomas (1997-99). Grau also tied the single-season school record with seven triples as a sophomore in 2021.

- Freshman outfielder DJ Newman is batting .325 and slugging .434 while senior catcher Kyle Gurney is batting .313 and slugging .480 with 10 doubles, five home runs and 24 RBIs. Sophomore outfielder Nathan Archer is batting .280 and slugging .490 with a team-high seven home runs and 34 RBIs. Senior infielder Nathan Rose leads BGSU with 37 RBIs. The Falcons rank 11th in the MAC with a .230 team batting average.
- Freshman right-hander Jacob Turner has a 1-0 record, a 2.93 ERA and one save in 15.1 innings over 12 appearances and two starts. Junior left-hander Rigo Ramos has a 2-3 record, a 5.86 ERA and 37 strikeouts in 35.1 innings over 12 appearances and six starts. Sophomore right-hander Connar Penrod has a 4-0 record, a 3.29 ERA, one save and 36 strikeouts in 27.1 innings over a team-high 16 relief appearances. BGSU ranks fourth in the MAC with a 5.86 team ERA.
- Bowling Green was picked ninth out of 11 teams in the 2023 MAC Baseball Preseason Coaches Poll. The Falcons posted an 18-34 overall record and a 14-24 mark in MAC play in 2022.
