Youngstown, Ohio -- Youngstown State scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and held on for a 3-2 comeback win over Robert Morris on Wednesday afternoon at the Covelli Sports Complex.
Youngstown State improves to 19-17 overall and 7-3 in the Horizon League while the Colonials fall to 16-17 overall and 6-4 in league play.
Senior Avrey Schumacher went 2-for-3 with two runs batted in while Taylor Truran went 2-for-3, including a single that plated the go-ahead run.
Junior Sophie Howell won for the ninth time and allowed three hits and just one earned run.
The Penguins trailed 2-0 after the Colonials plated a pair of runs in the top of the first inning.
Robert Morris' Dana Vatakis retired the first six Penguins batters she faced before Schumacher led off the bottom of the third with a single. Elyssa Imler and  Truran also singled to load the bases, but Vatakis induced three straight ground balls to get out the inning.
In the bottom of the fourth, Jillian Jaske walked and Hailey Roach singled to put runners on first and second. Megan Turner's sacrifice bunt advanced the runners and Schumacher laced a single up the middle to plate the game-tying run.
After a walk to Imler, Truran singled to right field and plated Schumacher with the go-ahead run.
The Colonials put runners on first and second with one out in the top of the sixth, but RMU lined into a double play to end the threat.
Youngstown State visits IUPUI for a three-game Horizon League series starting Friday, April 14, at 3 p.m.
