The Youngstown State volleyball team will begin its 2023 spring schedule on Saturday as it hosts three teams for a Round Robin on campus.

The Penguins will welcome Saint Francis U (Pa.), Akron and Cleveland State for the four-team competition that will take place in the Stambaugh Stadium Gymnasiums. Youngstown State will take on the Red Flash at 10 a.m., the Zips at 11:15 a.m. and the Vikings at 1:30 p.m. Admission is free.

YSU's other spring tournament will be on April 22 at Cleveland State. The Penguins will take on CSU and Akron again as well as Buffalo in Cleveland.

Youngstown State returns eight of the nine student-athletes who played in at least half of its sets in the fall. The Penguins posted their best record in eight years in 2022 and set a new school record for Horizon League wins with eight. Each of those eight conference victories came in an 11-match stretch from Oct. 1 through Nov. 4, and YSU went on to qualify for the Horizon League Tournament for the first time since 2014.
