The Youngstown State baseball team fell 16-2 in seven innings to Kansas State in the series finale on Sunday at Tointon Family Stadium in Manhattan, Kan.
The Wildcats struck for one run in the second inning and 10 runs in the third on their way to completing the three-game series sweep.
Youngstown State falls to 3-13 overall while Kansas State improves to 11-5.
Steven D'Eusanio went 2-for-3 with a double while Matt Thompson doubled and drove in a run.
YSU starter Aidan English suffered the loss after allowing seven runs on four hits and five walks over two innings in his first career start. Casey Marshalwitz was tagged with four unearned runs in one inning of work while Will Shaffer was responsible for five runs on six hits over 2.2 innings. Cam Marshalwitz struck out the only batter he faced in the sixth inning.
Kansas State took an early 1-0 lead when Raphael Pelletier led off the bottom of the second inning with a solo home run to right field.
The Wildcats pushed their advantage to 11-0 with 10 runs on three hits and two errors in the home half of the third inning. Two walks and a hit batter loaded the bases before an RBI single by Brady Day and a three-run double by Cole Johnson. Roberto Pena brought home Johnson with an RBI groundout before a bases-loaded walk by Cash Rugely pushed across the sixth run of the frame. KSU scored three unearned runs on back-to-back two-out errors before an RBI single by Johnson plated the final run of the inning.
The Wildcats scored a pair of two-out runs in the bottom of the fourth to increase their lead to 13-0. Brendan Jones drew a two-out walk, advanced to second when Dom Hughes was hit by a pitch and scored on an RBI single by Rugely. Nick Goodwin then brought home Hughes with an RBI infield single for the second run of the inning.
Youngstown State got on the board in the top of the fifth inning when Braeden O'Shaughnessy reached on an error and came around to score on an RBI groundout by Thompson.
Kansas State added three runs on four hits in the bottom of the sixth to build a 16-1 advantage. Kyan Lodice hit a two-out RBI single and Cayden Phillips followed with a two-run double down the left field line.
The Penguins scored the final run in the top of the seventh when RJ Sherwood drew a leadoff walk, advanced to third on a double by D'Eusanio and scored on an RBI groundout by Padraig O'Shaughnessy.
KSU starter German Fajardo allowed two hits and five walks over three scoreless innings in a no-decision. Mason Buss was awarded the victory after allowing one unearned run on one hit with three strikeouts over two innings of relief.
Johnson went 2-for-4 with a double and four RBIs to lead the Wildcats offensively.
