Four Reach Double Figures in 81-78 Loss at Cleveland State

Cleveland, Ohio -- Four players scored in double figures, but the Youngstown State men's basketball team dropped an 81-78 decision to Cleveland State on Sunday afternoon at the Wolstein Center.

The Penguins fall to 20-7 overall and 12-4 in the Horizon League while Cleveland State improves to 16-11 overall and 11-5 in the league.

Brandon Rush led the Penguins with 20 points while Dwayne Cohill scored 17 points. Adrian Nelson recorded his 12th double-double with the season with 12 points and tied a career high with 19 rebounds, and Malek Green added 10 points.

Tae Williams led the Vikings with 20 points while Tristan Enaruna had 18 points, Drew Lowder posted 15 and Deshon Parker added 12 points.

The back-and-forth game featured 10 lead changes and eight ties and neither team led by more than eight points.

Youngstown State led 51-48 midway through the second half after a putback dunk by Green, and the team battled through three more ties before Rush hit a 3-pointer to put the Penguins up, 58-57 at the 5:52 left in the game.

Cleveland State's Lowder hit a 3-pointer to regain the lead at 60-58, and the Vikings scored eight of the next 13 points to extend the lead to 68-63 and then 70-65 with 3:01 to go.

The Vikings twice extend the lead to a game-high eight points in the final 1:13 of the game.

Youngstown State made more field goals (31-28) and 3-pointers (6-4) but the Vikings connected on 21-of-31 from the free-throw line while the Penguins were just 10-for-16.

Youngstown State hosts Milwaukee in a clash of Horizon League leaders, Thursday, Feb. 16. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. at Beeghly Center.
