Scouting Cleveland State
Cleveland State enters the game with an overall record of 15-11 and a 10-5 mark in Horizon League play. Tristan Enaruna leads the Vikings with 14.6 points per game overall and 17.1 in league play. Deshon Parker is posting 10.5 points per contest.

The Cleveland State Series
This is the 101st meeting between Youngstown State and Cleveland State in a series that dates back to 1930. The Vikings own a 55-45 advantage in the all-time series and have won nine of the last 11 contests. The Penguins won the last meeting, 85-71, on Dec. 29 at Beeghly Center. Youngstown State has lost five straight at the Wolstein Center and has not won since an 80-77 victory on Jan. 1, 2018.

Last Time vs. Cleveland State
Brandon Rush scored his 1,000th career point, and the Youngstown State men's basketball team went on big runs in each half to beat Cleveland State 85-71 on Dec. 29, 2022 at Beeghly Center. Rush led all scorers with 21 points, and he finished the night with 1,002 points in his career that began at Fairleigh Dickinson and continues in Youngstown.  Dwayne Cohill and Adrian Nelson both scored 16 points, and Malek Green added 15 for the Penguins. Cohill also contributed six assists as YSU posted 19 assists against nine turnovers as a team. Tristan Enaruna and Deshon Parker each scored 18 points for Cleveland State.

  • Improve YSU's record to 21-6 and mark the first time in YSU's Division I era the Penguins won 21 games in the regular season.

Youngstown State needs one more victory to set school Division I wins record at 21 and four more to tie the program's all-time wins mark at 24. The last time Youngstown State won 20 games in season was in 1997-98, and the last time YSU had at least 21 wins was in 1976-77 with 22..

Graduate student Adrian Nelson is approaching a very special club. Nelson is approaching 1,000-point and 1,000-rebound plateaus for his college career. He has 978 career rebounds and 970 career points and needs just 22 more boards and 30 more points to reach each feat.

Youngstown State has made 216 3-pointers this season to reach 200 3s made for the 12th consecutive full season. The Penguins also made 186 in the COVID-shortened 2020-21 season. The streak started in 2010-11 when the Penguins made 235 3-pointers. 

High Efficiency
As of Feb. 11, Youngstown State ranks fifth in the nation in team offensive efficiency rating, per teamrankings.com. The Penguins ranked fifth with 1.134 points per possession. Over the last three games, the Penguins offensive efficiency was 1.077 points per possession. The Penguins also own a 1.157 points per possession at Beeghly Center.

Over the last 11 contests, the Penguins are averaging 82.6 points per game while shooting 49.7 percent from the field, 39.5 percent from 3-point range, and 77.9 percent from the free-throw line. Dwayne Cohill is averaging 18.1 points and 6.0 assists per game.
