Youngstown, Ohio – Six players scored in double figures and three players posted double-doubles as the Youngstown State men's basketball team defeated Westminster, 117-45, on Monday evening at Beeghly Center.
The Penguin, who have won six straight games, improve to 9-3 overall and 6-0 at Beeghly Center while the Titans fall to 6-6 on the year.
Leading the Penguins was junior EJ Farmer with career highs in scoring and rebounding 20 points and six rebounds while senior Jaylen Bates scored a season-high 19 points and grabbed seven boards.
DJ Burns recorded his sixth double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds while Imanuel Zorgvol posted the first double-double of his career with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Senior Brett Thompson scored 13 points and dished out a career-high 10 assists for his first career double-double. Brandon Rush added 13 points with a team-high three steals.
Youngstown State shot 55.6 percent from the floor, including 61.5 percent in the first half, and made 13 3-pointers. The Penguins also scored 60 points in the paint, tallied 27 assists and was credited with 10 steals.
Youngstown State closes out non-conference play against Navy, Thursday, Dec. 21. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. at Beeghly Center.
