Softball Announces 2024 Slate

The Youngstown State softball team announced its 2024 schedule that includes four in-season tournaments and 20 home games at the YSU Softball Field in the Covelli Sports Complex.
The Penguins play their first 19 games on the road in tournaments at Gardner-Webb, Presbyterian, East Carolina, and Norfolk State before their home opener on March 12 against Akron.
Youngstown State opens the season with five games at Gardner-Webb in Boling Springs, N.C., Feb. 9-11. The Penguins take on Delaware and East Tennessee State on the first day of the tournament, and face Buccaneers and Gardner-Webb on Feb. 10. The Penguins close out the tournament against the Blue Hens on Feb. 11.
The Penguins head to Clinton, S.C., four another five-game tournament hosted by Presbyterian, Feb. 16-18. The Penguins square off against former Horizon League foe Valparaiso and Presbyterian on Feb. 16 before taking on Morehead State and the Blue Hose on Feb. 17. Youngstown State closes out the tournament against the Beacons on Feb. 18.
After a weekend off, the Penguins return South for their third five-game tourney at East Carolina, March 1-3. The Penguins take on St. Joseph's and East Carolina on the first day, and Appalachian State and the Pirates on March 2. The Penguins and Hawks close out the tournament on March 3.
Youngstown State's fourth in-season tournament is at Norfolk State, March 8-9, in Norfolk, Va. The Penguins will face both Norfolk State and UNLV on each days.
After the home opener against Akron on March 12, the Penguins begin Horizon League play with a three-game home series against Detroit Mercy, March 15-16.
Youngstown State also hosts Bowling Green (March 19), Green Bay (March 29-30), Niagara (April 2), Northern Kentucky (April 19-20), Bucknell (April 23), and IUPUI (May 3-4) to close out the regular season.
The Penguins road contests include at Purdue Fort Wayne (March 22-23), at St. Bonaventure (March 27), at Oakland (April 5-6), at Robert Morris (April 9-10), at Morehead State (April 16), and at Cleveland State (April 26-27).
The 2024 Horizon League Championship is set for May 8-11 at the highest available seed.
