The Youngstown State women's golf team has seized an 11-stroke lead after the first round of the Roseann Schwartz Invitational on Monday at Mill Creek Park Golf Course in Boardman, Ohio.
The Penguins posted a single-round team score of 294 (+10) on Monday to build an 11-shot lead over Bellarmine.
Sophomore Lizzie Saur fired a career-low, two-under-par 69 in the first round on Monday to grab a one-stroke lead on the individual leaderboard heading into Tuesday's second and final session. The Grove City, Ohio, native became just the sixth golfer in YSU history to record a sub-70 round.
Fifth-year senior Puthita Khuanrudee is tied for third place after carding a one-over-par 72. Titita Loudtragulngam and Adena Rugola each shot a three-over-par 74 to sit tied for seventh.
Danae Rugola is tied for ninth after shooting a 75 while Chaela Barnett is tied for 14th with a 77. Madie Smithco is tied for 20th after recording a 79 while Christina Lewis posted an 80 to tie for 22nd.
Bellarmine is in second place heading into Tuesday's final round with a team score of 305 while Cleveland State is two strokes back in third place with a 307. Mount St. Mary's sits in fourth with a 310 while Detroit Mercy rounds out the top five with a 313.
The second and final round of the Roseann Schwartz Invitational will begin Tuesday with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Live scoring will be available at BirdieFire.com.
