Penguins Earn Impressive Win at Northern Kentucky

Cincinnati, Ohio - The Youngstown State women's tennis team picked up a 7-0 win over Northern Kentucky on Saturday afternoon at the Five Seasons Sports Club.
With the win, YSU improves to 8-8 overall after winning its third straight contest and is now 2-0 in Horizon League play while NKU falls to 2-9 and 0-3.
YSU took the doubles point with impressive performances at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. At No. 2 doubles, Jessica Stanmore and Lili Minich cruised to a 6-0 victory while at No. 3 doubles, Elisa Rigazio and Eliska Masarikova earned a 6-1 win.
Four of the six singles contests went three sets with the Guins winning all of them. At No. 6 singles, Minich earned a 6-3, 6-0 win and at No. 5, Stanmore earned a 6-4, 6-3 win in the two matches that were determined in straight sets.
In the three-set matches, Cecilia Rosas won 6-4, 6-7, 7-6 at No. 1, Julia Marko won 6-0, 0-6, 7-5 at No. 2, Masarikova won 7-5, 4-6, 6-1 and at No. 4, Rigazio rallied for a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 win.
The Penguins return to action on Sunday when the visit IUPUI. First serve against the Jaguars is set for 11 a.m.
