Clinton, S.C. -- Senior Yazmine Romero became the sixth player in school history to record 200 career hits, but the Youngstown State softball team dropped a pair of games on Saturday at the 2022 Scotsman Invitational.

The Penguins fell to St. Peter's, 4-1, and Presbyterian, 1-0. With the losses, YSU falls to 8-7 on the year.

Romero went 2-for-4 in both games to reach the milestone. Hit number 200 came in the top of seventh inning against Presbyterian.

In the opener, St. Peter's scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning after Hailey Niederkohr's sacrifice fly scored Alex DeLeon in the top of the fifth that gave YSU a 1-0 lead.

Against Presbyterian, Elle Buffenbarger struck out nine and allowed just three hits, but was the hard-luck loser after giving up a run in the bottom of the seventh.

The Penguins face the Peacocks and Bluehose, Sunday, at 10 a.m. and 12:15 p.m., respectively.
