Penguins Fall Twice at Winthrop Tournament

Rock Hill, S.C. – Freshman Taylor Truran hit her first career home run and freshman Bree Kohler fanned a career-high eight but the Youngstown State softball team dropped a 2-1 decision to Western Carolina on Friday afternoon in game two at the Winthrop Tournament.
The Penguins fall to 2-5 on the season.
Truran belted her first career home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Penguins up, 1-0.
The Catamounts tied the game with an unearned run in the bottom of the sixth and then scored the game-winner on a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh.
Yazmine Romero had two hits for the Penguins
The Penguins dropped a 10-1 decision to Winthrop earlier in the day.
Conchetta Rinaldi had a run-scoring double for the Penguins.
Youngstown State faces Albany and Towson, Saturday, at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., respectively.
