McFadden Named MVFC Special Teams Player of the Week

Youngstown State senior placekicker Colt McFadden was named the Missouri Valley Football Conference's Special Teams Player of the Week after kicking the game-winning field goal in the Penguins' dramatic come-from-behind win at Western Illinois yesterday.
McFadden was called on to make a 42-yard kick with just four seconds remaining and the Penguins trailing the Leathernecks 27-25. With a strong wind at his back, McFadden made the field goal with ease while WIU was flagged for an illegal substitution. As the clock read 0:00, YSU celebrated a hard-fought 28-27 victory that saw it overcome a 10-point deficit in the contests final 2:30.
The win improved the Guins to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in the Missouri Valley Football Conference.
McFadden added a 25-yard field goal in the first quarter that gave the Guins a lead. He has made nine of his last 10 attempts, which have all come in MVFC play.
The Penguins return home to take on South Dakota in another key Valley game on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at Stambaugh Stadium.
