Softball Drops 4-3 Decision to Belmont on Friday

Memphis, Tenn. -- The Youngstown State softball team dropped a 4-3 decision to Belmont on day one of the Memphis Softball Tournament on Friday.
The Penguins fall to 6-4 while Belmont improves to 3-11.
Junior Yazmine Romero went 2-for-4 and classmate Nikki Saibene went 2-for-4 with an RBI while sophomore Grace Cea drove in two runs.
The Penguins fell behind 2-0 but a run-scoring single by Saibene and a run-scoring double by Cea tied the game in the top of the fifth.
The Bruins scored twice more in the bottom of the sixth to take a 4-2 lead and Cea's sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh got the Penguins within one, but could not get any closer.
The Penguins take on Western Carolina and Indiana State on Saturday at 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., respectively.
