Madison, Wis. -- Junior Natalie Fleming and junior Chris Butler each turned in impressive performances to lead the Youngstown State cross country teams at the 2019 NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Saturday afternoon.
Fleming led the women's team to a 20th-place finish with a time of 22:19.8, which is the ninth fastest time in school history in the 6K. Butler's time of 32:41.1 in the 10K ranks 12th in school history and led the Penguins to finish 23rd.
Junior Nicole Squatrito placed 99th with a time of 22:20.0 while freshman Morgan Cole turned in a time of 22.22.6. Ashleigh Rowley posted a time of 22:58.0, Maggie Sebest turned in a time of 23:10.9, Mackenzie Scott ran a time of 23:31.9 and Xena Maali recorded a time of 23:47.8.
On the men's side, Tyler Polman's time of 32:45.2 finished 102nd in the race and ranks 15th all-time in school history. C.J. Schumacher posted a time of 33:11.4 while Derek Basinger ran time of 33:14.4. Matthew Mangus posted a time of 33:34.5, Ethan Sparks turned in a time of 33:47.9 and Cole Lovett had a time of 34:09.8.
