Youngstown, Ohio - The Youngstown State women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to UIC on Saturday afternoon at Farmers National Bank Field in the Covelli Sports Complex.

The Flames improved to 8-5-1 overall and 4-2 in the Horizon League while the Penguins drop to 3-11-1 and 1-5 in the league.

UIC took a 1-0 lead early through the first half when Emily Valentine connected with Emma Main on a through ball before she was able to find the net at the 13:40 mark.

The Flames had a chance to extend their lead in the 33rd minute when a rocket from Tamae Douglas was steered away by Kate McEachern.

McEachern finished the half with three saves while Marcella Sizer recorded the lone shot for the Penguins who were out shot 8-1.

Main scored her second goal of the afternoon in the 63rd minute to give UIC a 2-0 before The Flames extended their lead to 3-0 late in the 85th minute on a goal from Valentine.

McEachern finished the contest with seven saves while the three different Penguins recorded a shot.

The Penguins hit the road for a midweek match against Wright State on Wednesday, October 23 as they travel to Alumni Field for a 7 p.m. kickoff against the Raiders.
