
Women's Soccer Falls to Northern Kentucky, 7-1

Senior Kyler Lum scored her sixth goal of the season, but the Youngstown State women's soccer team dropped a 7-1 decision to Northern Kentucky on Saturday afternoon at Farmers National Bank Field.
With the loss, the Penguins fall to 4-6-1 overall and 0-2 in the Horizon League while the Norse improve to 5-4 overall and 2-0 in the league.
NKU's Macy Hamblin put the Norse up 1-0 with a goal in the 20th minute, but Lum answered to knot the game at 1-1 at the 36:00 mark. A deflected ball found Lum who blasted a shot into the lower-right corner of the net.
Twenty-nine seconds later, Megan Patrick scored her first goal of the season from an assist from Shawna Zaken to put the Norse back up, 2-1.
Northern Kentucky scored five more times in the second half on 15 shots and and seven shots on goal.
For the match, the Norse outshot the Penguins, 21-11, even though YSU held that advantage at halftime, 9-6.
The Penguins visit Cleveland State, Wednesday, Sept. 27, at 7 p.m.
