
Women's Soccer Visits Army, Hosts St. Mary's (Calif.) in Home Opener This Weekend

The Youngstown State women's soccer team seeks its first 3-0 start since 2012 when it visits Army on Friday, Aug. 28, at 7 p.m. The Penguins also host St. Mary's (Calif.) on Sunday, Aug. 30, at 1 p.m. at Farmers National Bank Field.
Last Week
The Penguins opened the 2015 campaign with a pair of 1-0 victories over VMI and Longwood last week. In the win over VMI, senior Karlee Kline scored her second career goal to lead the Penguins to a season-opening win. Freshman Madison Hughes tallied her first career score in the win over Longwood, and junior goalkeeper Katie Montgomery posted two straight shutouts.
Montgomery Named Defensive Player of the Week
Junior goalkeeper Katie Montgomery was named the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week after posting a pair of shutouts during the season-opening weekend. She became the first YSU goalkeeper in program history to tally back-to-back shutouts to start a season. She played all 180 minutes in the net and stopped the only shot-on-goal she faced. Montgomery now has four career wins and three career shutouts.
About Army
This is the first meeting between Youngstown State and Army. Army West Point is 1-1 this season following a 4-2 win over Sacred Heart and a 2-0 loss to Delaware last week. Katie Holder leads Army with three points on a goal and an assist. Kayleigh Stallings, BAiley Widman and Brigid Tracy each have scored a goal as well.
About St. Mary's (Calif.)
This is the first meeting between Youngstown State and St. Mary's (Calif.). The Gaels enter this week with a 1-0-1 record after defeating UC-Santa Barbara, 2-0, and tying Cal Poly, 1-1. Hannah Diaz leads the squad with three points on a goal and an assist. Samantha Dion and Kiana Quarles have also scored goals.

The Penguins play seven straight home matches in the month of September starting with a Friday night contest against Central Michigan on Sept. 4, at 7 p.m. at Farmers National Bank Field.
