Burlington, Vermont -- Senior Brittany Tenis and sophomore Kathy Baquero each scored their first career goals, but the Youngstown State women's soccer team dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to Vermont on Sunday afternoon.

The Penguins fall to 0-2 on the season while the Catamounts improve to 2-0.

Tenis gave the Penguins an early lead by converting a penalty kick for a 1-0 edge just 5:43 into the match.

Three minutes later, junior Macey Riese's header from a cross found Baquero who tapped it in to give the Penguins a 2-0 lead less than nine minutes in.

Vermont cut the Penguins lead in half when Paige Phillips header off a free kick found the net at 13:04 mark.

The Catamounts tied the game when Sarah Martin hit the far post of the goal off a corner kick at the 35:40.

With 30 minutes left in the match, freshman Katie Hackos nearly gave the Penguins the lead but her shot hit off the crossbar.

In overtime, Vermont's Nikki McFarland scored the game-winner from a pass through the box from Caitie Green just 1:47 into the extra frame.

The Penguins took seven shots to Vermont's nine and had four corners to the Catamounts' five.

The Penguins play VMI, Friday, Aug. 29, at 7 p.m. in the 2014 home opener at Farmers National Bank Field.
