Cincinnati, Ohio – The Youngstown State baseball team committed four costly errors and stranded 13 runners in an 11-5 loss to Eastern Michigan at the University of Cincinnati's Marge Schott Stadium on Sunday evening.

Josh White was 3-for-5 with two RBIs, and seven other Penguins had hits against the Eagles.

Eastern Michigan scored five runs, one of which was unearned, on three hits and three walks in the first inning, and the Penguins were never able to catch up.

The Penguins shaved two runs off the deficit in the third when White singled in Kurt Laver and Lorenzo Arcuri, but Eastern Michigan added three runs in the top of the fourth to go ahead 8-2. Those three runs came after an error prolonged the inning, and YSU starter Nic Manuppelli should have been out of the inning after three batters.

The Eagles scored twice in the fifth and once in the sixth to take an 11-2 advantage. YSU got an unearned run in the seventh, and it added two more in the ninth when Jake Fryman brought in White on a sacrifice fly and Kris Moules scored on a wild pitch.

Manuppelli was charged with eight runs, only four of which were earned, in 3.2 innings. He allowed five hits, walked six batters and struck out four. Brad Smith pitched two scoreless innings, and Kevin Yarabinec pitched a scoreless ninth.

EMU starter Michael Marsinek allowed two runs on six hits and three walks in 5.1 innings, and the Penguins scored three runs off two Eagles relievers. Lee Longo and Michael Mioduszewski had two hits apiece.

Youngstown State will start a two-game series at Eastern Kentucky on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
