Bobby Hain Registers Fifth Double-Double in 90-84 Loss to Kennesaw State

Youngstown -- Junior Bobby Hain scored a career-high 26 points and tied a career best with 17 rebounds, and three other players scored in double figures, but the Youngstown State men's basketball team dropped a 90-84 decision to Kennesaw State on Wednesday evening at the Beeghly Center.
Senior Shawn Amiker scored 21 points with nine rebounds, senior DJ Cole posted 18 points and five assists and sophomore Marcus Keene had 14 points and seven assists for the Penguins, who fall to 7-6.
Leading Kennesaw State, who improves to 4-7, was Nigel Pruitt with a game-high 29 points while Delbert Love had 24 points and eight assists.
The Owls also made 11 3-pointers, six by Pruitt and four more by Love, and shot 53.2 percent from floor for the game.
The Penguins connected on 49.3 percent from the floor but shot just 25 percent (3-for-12) from behind the arc.
Trailing by 10, 86-76, with a minute left, a layup by Hain, three free-thwos by Cole and a 3-pointer by Cole got the Penguins within four, 88-84, with 17 seconds left.
After Pruitt split a pair of free throws, Cole missed a 3-pointer with eight seconds left that would have cut the lead down to two.
Pruitt added a free throw with one second remaining for the game's final score.
The first half featured five ties and 10 lead changes during the first 11 minutes of the game.
The Penguins largest lead was five points, 19-14, with 11:14 to go in the half after a Hain jumper.
A dunk by Amiker stopped a 7-0 run by the Owls and knotted the game at 21-21 with 9:26 remaining.
KSU built its lead to seven points, 34-27, but the Penguins used a 10-2 run to take a 37-36 lead with 2:15 left after a Sidney Umude putback.
The Owls outscored the Penguins 10-4 over the last two minutes of the half to take a 46-41 lead into the lockerroom at halftime.
The Penguins host Wilberforce, Friday, Dec. 19, at 1:30 p.m. at the Beeghly Center.
