Soccer Knocks Off Duquesne, 2-1, in Exhibition

Youngstown -- Sophomore Katie Hohmann and freshman Kathy Baquero each scored a goal and led the Youngstown State women's soccer team to a 2-1 win over Duquesne in a three 30-minute periods exhibition game at Stambaugh Stadium on Monday evening.
Junior goalkeeper Jackie Podolsky collected five saves and did not allow a goal.
At the 22 minute mark, Hohmann started the scoring with a blast from 30-yards out after the ball deflected off a Duquesne defender.
After a Heather Coonfare cross from the right wing and touch by Rachel Hutton, Baquero slid a shot into the bottom right corner of the goal at the 45 minute mark.
Duquesne had four shots on goal in the second period, but the Dukes were denied three times by Podolsky.
The Dukes got on the board at the 59th minute of the game.
The Penguins host California (Pa.) in an exhibition game, Monday, Aug. 19.
